How often classes are held?
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Tuesday Math is taught and English is taught on
Thursday. The same subject must be taught at all levels on the same day to facilitate persons who are in
different levels for Math and English.
Where are classes held?
All classes are held in a classroom block on the premises of the Swallowfield Chapel, located on
Swallowfield Road, just down from the Examination Depot. Enter through gate #7 and the classroom
block is to the left and rear of the former chapel.
How many teachers for each class?
We aim to have at least 2 teacher per day for most classes. We also try to team up new teachers with more seasoned teachers.
How often will I have to teach?
At least once per week, but as frequently as you wish.
Why do I have to commit to teach for an entire school year?
When we have to replace teachers during the school year, it usually has a negative impact on the students.
Am I qualified to teach the Adult Learning Centre?
Almost certainly. Hardly any of our teachers have any formal training. You just need to be committed, patient, enthusiastic and open-minded.

Is there a Curriculum?
Yes. Adult Learning Centre publishes a curriculum that comprises of Basic Literacy and Basic Numeracy. We use this curriculum as a general guide. l 4, we focus more heavily on the Civics and Life Skills areas of the curriculum.
What do students do after graduating from ALC?
Unfortunately, Adult Learning Centre does not currently offer a program that can .take graduates from the Level 4 point onwards
Will I be paid to teach?
Richly! Teaching at ALC is a very rewarding experience – you will receive significant dividends of the heart.
