ABOUT US

The main mission of Adult Learning Centres (ALC) is to promote and advance literacy in Jamaica by way
of academic programmes and initiatives. ALC offers Math and English classes to adult students. A team
of volunteers teach the classes which are held on the premises of the Swallowfield Chapel, 5-7
Swallowfield Road, Kingston 5.
 

Adult Learning Centres of Jamaica was incorporated on November 5, 2007 as a company limited by guarantee, and subsequently registered as a charity in September 18, 2008. ALC was registered under the Charities Act in 2018.

 

The ALC programme had its genesis as one of the satellite centres of the Jamaica Foundation for Lifelong Learning (JFLL). As such, ALC seeks to build on the government’s literacy efforts by creating a dynamic environment that can improve the educational competencies of adult learners at the basic level.
